Summer Camp 2007 will be at Camp Whitsett in the Sierras.
This was a great camp in 2003,
and it will help give us an option to go to
Emerald Bay in 2008.
Camp Whitsett is an 80 acre camp situated close to the Giant Redwoods in Sequoia National Forest, at an
elevation of 4300' with its own lake. The water temperature of the lake is 66-70 degrees, the air is usually
between 70-90 degrees during the day and 60-65 degrees at night.
Programs are offered for everyone from the first year camper to the skilled veteran in the areas of
Aquatics, Field Sports, Handicraft, Nature and Scoutcraft.
Scouts aged 14 and older looking for High Adventure can participate in activities appropriate to
their age, including a newly enlarged and extremely demanding High COPE course. We have several scouts
registered for the Sierra Cycling Outing.
The bikes are already there. The gear is trucked daily to the day's destination, where scouts will be
river tubing, fishing, rock climbing, wilderness camping, cooking, and more.
With the leadership, support and programs available, Summer Camp is probably the best way to experience
and advance in Scouting.
Mrs. J (Ryan's mom) will be co-ordinating this again. Please watch for her e-mails and for further updates
on this page!
