Waving USA Flag Character Counts

It was overcast when the Scouts and guest Webelos arrived at Mitchell Caverns, and it rained a little before we set up camp. After we were set up, it started to rain - a lot. The scouts made dinner in the rain and most decided to retire after that. The leaders made apple, peach and apricot cobblers for desert and this enticed some to brave the wet outdoors.

Sometime during the night, a few people noticed that their sleeping bags were a bit cooler and wetter than they should be. By morning, there was a lot of wet equipment and scouts. Nevertheless, this troop made breakfast and broke camp -in the rain- and still toured the Caverns. Our scoutmaster commented that these were the most unpleasant camping conditions that he'd experienced and these scouts dealt with the problems in an exemplary manner.

"Puddle Duck" patches were awarded to commemorate this event.
