This high-altitude (9700ft) backpacking event was primarily a "shakedown" in preparation for our upcoming
week-long trip to the back country of the Sierras. We took the Palm Springs Aerial Tram to the top, and hiked
from there up and into Mount San Jacinto. We took a break in the snow, and around sundown we set up two camps
to minimize our environmental impact. Mostly downhill to Idylwild, where our drivers had driven around the
mountains to meet us. We left tired, stronger and better prepared for the Sierras.
