"On November 12, we went to the San Diego Youth Aquatic Center. That night, we set up our tents, sat on chairs
made of firewood, ate our chickens by the fire, and prepared for our canoeing trip the next day. Some of us arrived
late, while others decided to stay up and entertain ourselves with activities such as towers of firewood. We woke up
early the next day so that we would have more time to prepare. We had quick breakfasts, took down our tents and got
our canoes ready.
We seemed to have trouble getting started, especially since it was raining hard for most of the trip there, but
eventually the rain lifted and we got into gear. We enjoyed the mixed scenery of bridges, sand, seaweed, jumping fish,
greenery, and buildings and passed a football from canoe to canoe to entertain ourselves. Around noon, we stopped in a
small, grassy clearing for lunch. Some of the first and second year scouts built sand structures.
When everyone had eaten, we headed back to our campsite. The trip back was much easier and faster than the trip there,
most likely because it had stopped raining. When we got back, most of us quickly resumed our previous activities.
Once it was dark, we ate our dinners, performed skits, and told jokes. The night’s tasks completed, most of us went to
sleep. The next day, we cleaned the campsites and took down our tents. We then prepared our breakfast, made sure we
had not left anything behind, and got into our cars. We met outside of Kohl’s and then went home in high spirits."
