Waving USA Flag Character Counts

It just isn't a 148 campout without a little rain to get things going. Luckily it only sprinkled a little the first night and the rest of the trip was dry but with lightning & thunder in the distance daily. The Mosquito Plague of last year moved on and there were only a few stragglers.

We camped by one of the highest lakes below the tree line (about 10,000ft). The scenery was incredible and every morning you could see dark fish heads popping up out of the blue table-top lake. A group of us hiked over the ridge (about 11,000ft), over the snow and and caught some more fish in another lake. We'd passed some National Forestry people repairing trails along the way... The troop pitched-in Thursday for a few hours and saved the Forestry Service at least a full day's labor.

There were no scout equipment issues or hiking gripes. The scouts had no problem preparing their meals, organizing clean-up or finding buddies to fish or explore with. The trip ended the trip with a good fish-fry. It was a great and memorable event.
